- 世界に誇る京の型紙デザイン -

　当社は約80年前　佐野意匠型紙店として京都で祖父佐野義男が創業しました。
　創業者は伊勢の津の出身で三重一中を卒業後、京都で親戚のきもの型紙屋で丁稚をしながら染織を学びました。ほどなく同地で型紙屋として独立し、日本の型紙の大半を生産していた郷里の伊勢の白子（現在の鈴鹿市白子）を仕入のために毎週行き来しながらデザイン提案のできる京都で最大手の型紙屋に成長します。型紙とデザインをこよなく愛し、その頃から蒐集してきた伊勢型紙の秀作がいまも本社の2階倉庫に1万8千点余り眠っています。

　時が経ち現在は使わなくなった型紙をこのまま朽ちさせるには忍びないと、地元　立命館大学の美術アーカイブ界権威の先生とコツコツとデジタル撮影をはじめ、７年越しでようやく今年日本一の検索可能な型紙デザインアーカイブが完成しました。創業者が望んだように日本の優れたきもの古典デザインを、日本のみならず世界のデザイナーに知っていただき少しでも活用いただければ、出身のきもの業界へも恩返しになるのではと考えています。
　現在当社は染織ときもの業界を卒業し、主業はインテリアと電気業界に移り住みましたが、温故知新でデザイン情報を発信するとともに自社の製品デザインにも展開してまいりたいと考えております。少しずつしではありますが、今後の展開に宜しくご期待くださいませ。

　Our company was founded as SANO Kimono dying stencil workshop more than 80 years ago by my grand -father in Kyoto. He was born at ISE, Mie Prefecture, then after graduated local college, he started to work at his uncle's the stencil workshop in Kyoto. Soon he built his own workshop, every week he went to buy the stencil from SHIROKO near his hometown, later his shop became No.1 major design pattern shop in Kyoto. He loved Kimono and its pattern stencils, and collected eagerly and kept more than 18000 stencils in our head-office storage yard still now.
　After long long time, we feel sorry the stencils are leave to decay, then make up our mind to digital photo reserving with RITUMEIKAN University, world famous recerch centre of art data preservation. It takes 7years to built web searchable data-base.
　Now we sincerely hope that not only Japan but also world designers make use of our stencil data, as a result we can repay our origin Kimono industry. This seems to be our founder's dream.
　However, now we lives away from kimono and fabric trade, we can give you useful design information,and also use ourself as our product design. We will go Slowly but steadily, so please keep your interest on us!
